Immigration Medical Centre for Hamilton Residents
Hamilton is a city within Southern Ontario. It was founded in the early 19th century by George Hamilton, and since its founding, Hamilton has grown into a highly industrial city with a fast-growing population.
If you are immigrating to Canada, receiving a medical exam is an important step in moving forward as a new resident within Canada. In order to receive a work permit, study permit, extension visa, or sponsorship, it is necessary to do an Immigration Medical Exam (IME).
Immigration Medical Centre (IMC) is proud to offer comprehensive medical services to PR applicants who reside in Hamilton, Ontario. Our team of doctors and medical staff work diligently to ensure that every patient is given the care and attention that they need in order to do their Immigration Medical Exams (IME) as accurately and as quickly as possible.
Is there anything I need to do before my exam?
Clients 5 years or older need to drink lots of water before coming to the clinic as they will be asked to provide urine samples for testing. Please ensure to bring your passport, work permit, study permit, refugee form (if you have one), medical form called MEDICAL REPORT CLIENT BIODATA AND SUMMARY (if you received one from IRCC, but if you don’t have one, that’s ok), and a list of your medications (if you take any).
What happens during your immigration medical exam?
During your exam, a Panel Physician will assess your overall health and make sure that you do not have any conditions that could pose a risk to the public’s health and safety. The exam includes a physical examination, including taking the height, weight, blood pressure, and vision test as well as urine testing (anyone age 5 and older), blood work (age 15 and older) and finally x-ray (age 11 and older). If you have any existing medical conditions, you need to inform your panel physician of your medical conditions and medications that you are taking. Upon completing their immigration medical exams (IME), clients receive a proof that they have completed their medical exam, a document called an “Information Sheet”. For clients who plan to apply for their PR after they have completed their IME, then they need to retain their Information Sheet and upload it as part of their PR application as a proof of their medical exam.
What happens after you complete the exam?
The panel physician will obtain all medical test results including urine test, blood test and x-ray test results from different sources and submit the results directly to Immigratoin Refugee & Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on behalf of the client. It takes 5-10 business days from the date clients do their medical exams to submit all results to the IRCC. As mentioned above, most of this time is taken by collecting the results from various sources and laboratories. Please note, the decision to be satisfied with IME results solely rests with the Immigration Officer reviewing the immigration medical exam results. In cases where the immigration officer has concerns with an applicant’s IME test results, the IRCC officer may ask the applicant to undergo for further testing, a process known as a “furtherance” which is described in detail through this link.
What is the cost of a medical exam for immigration to Canada?
The cost of an immigration medical exam in Immigraton Medical Centre can range from $140-$250 depending on the age of clients. The older you are, the more tests you have to undergo, hence the higher the price. For a full list of the Immigration Medical Centre pricing schedule, please refer to this pricing page.
